10:15 am - 11:00 am  |  Workshops: Approaches to Community Change

UW Tacoma Joy Hall

There are many ways that leaders work for postive community change. Sometimes we can be tempted to believe that our preferred approach is the only or the most important way. At Act Six, we believe that lasting positive transformation requires many different approaches, and encourage Act Six scholars and graduates across our network to work for change in many different ways.

For this session, we’ve brought together compelling and effective leaders whose work represents a wide range of approaches to change. We encourage you to select one approach that resonates and aligns with you, and another that feels less familiar or maybe even uncomfortable. The workshops will be repeated again in the next session.

Café Six is a space for you to creatively share your heart with the Act Six network. The possibilities are endless, but we want those of you who are poets, singers, storytellers, musicians, rappers, dancers, comics, etc. to take this opportunity to express yourselves freely and creatively. You should be entertaining, but the underlying message is about expression as a form of leadership and empowerment. It doesn’t matter what you share; what is important is that you challenge yourselves to be creative and authentic.
