Act Six Scholar Elected President of Whitworth College Student Government

Fa'ana Fanene, Tacoma Whitworth Cadre One, was recently elected President of the Associated Students of Whitworth College (ASWC). A junior English major, Fa'ana was elected by the Whitworth student body this spring and will hold the office thoughout her senior year.

In her time on campus, Fa'ana has served as a Young Life leader with local high school students, Activities Coordinator for the International Club, and a Small Group Coordinator in her residence hall. Well known for her willingness to step out of her comfort zone, Fa'ana works hard to build relationships across differences and has earned the respect of students across the Whitworth student body.

As President, Fa'ana will provide executive leadership for ASWC as it works toward its two-fold mission to:

1. faithfully represent the student body's perspective on a wide variety of concerns and issues to the administration, faculty, and staff of Whitworth College and to the Spokane community, and
2. address the issues that confront the Whitworth student body.

Leading Whitworth's student body will provide Fa'ana yet another opportunity to make a difference as she prepares to pusue a Masters in Teaching and then return to her home community as a high school English teacher.
